Mission

The Bami-Ondaadiziike Birth Doula Project began within the Red Cliff Community. Our program will provide families with pregnancy, birth and postpartum support services as well as community education outreach and training for the Native American and Chequamegon Bay Area Community in an effort to promote safe and healthy childbearing experiences.

Vision

The Bami-Ondaadiziike Doula Program will provide the opportunity for Chequamegon Bay Area families to have access to the support of a doula. We will dedicate our work to families by striving to keep this supportive service accessible to all, regardless of ability to pay.

We strive to empower families by honoring the innate wisdom of childbearing and parenting.

The program will servie pregnant and parenting families by providing caring, knowledgeable support and education during the pregnancy and post-partum periods.

The spiritual nature of birth will be respected and nurtured, with the unique needs and desires of each family being held at the center of our service to them.

Surpport and acknowledgement will be given to all members of the expectant family. We will especially encourage our fathers, grandfathers, uncles and brothers to become and continue being present and constant positive role models for their children. We will encourage and promote their important and needed presence, allowing them to step back into their rightful place within the family circle.

The Bami-Ondaadiziike Doula Program will continue to be a positive presence in the community and will actively promote healthy and capable families through a program of professional doula support, community education and family resources so that fewer medical interventions are necessary and family bonds are strengthened.
