Doula Bio - Lori Cannon
I became interested in birth work approximately ten years ago and used to daydream about becoming a midwife in a small town; now I am beginning to work toward that goal!I am a DONA-trained birth and post-partum doula. I strongly believe that there is no single best approach to birth; as a doula, I am committed to supporting your decisions and your choices. It is an honor to attend a birth, and my goal is always to make sure you are empowered and informed throughout the entire process.
I am also a RN and work as the Maternal and Child Health Nurse at the Red Cliff Community Health Center. I plan to go back to school soon in order to become a certified nurse-midwife, and hope that I can continue to work in the Chequamegon Bay region for life.
I live in Ashland with my husband, one dog and two cats. My time is mostly spent gardening or planning a garden, depending on the season, reading, writing, listening to music, daydreaming about moving out to the country, and trying to make things out of other things, with varying success. I am very happy to be a part of this amazing group of women, each of whom is a talented and wonderful doula.
